Irene Petrou

Associate Forensic Psychologist

Irene Petrou is an Associate Forensic Psychologist at Forensic Psychology Practice Ltd, and holds a BSc (Hons) Psychology and MSc Forensic Psychology.

Irene has experience in assisting in report writing and assessments of adults and children presenting with a range of difficult and challenging behaviours.  She has completed training at ‘Agia Skepi’, a therapeutic community for drug users in Cyprus where she interviewed and assessed adolescents and adults with regards to their risk of violence and other problematic behaviours.  She has experience of working in a neurology and psychiatric clinics where her responsibilities included conducting clinical diagnostic interviews with patients, administration of a range of psychometric tests including measures of general health (depression, anxiety and PTSD) and preparation of topic materials for substance misuse focus groups.  She has experience in delivering group sessions at elementary, middle and high schools with children and adolescents who presented challenging and difficult behaviours.  She has worked with the Red Cross Cyprus and has experience working in a Refugee Camp and a Detention Centre where she provided psychosocial support through open group sessions based on research informed protocols.
